Reports today suggest Barbados will replace Britain’s monarch as its head of state and become a republic in 2021. The Caribbean island’s government has announced its exemplary decision to move forward, unfettered by the symbolism of the Crown. While this may not be a gale-force wind of change, it's still refreshing. The Palace has responded by stating that the matter is for the people of Barbados to decide, evidently signalling an awareness of which direction the wind is blowing. More to follow?
