Reports today suggest Barbados will replace Britain’s monarch as its head of state and become a republic in 2021. The exemplary decision to move forward unfettered by the symbolism of the Crown may not be a gale-force wind of change, but it's still refreshing. The Palace has responded by stating that the matter is for the people of Barbados to decide, evidently signalling an awareness of which direction the wind is blowing. More to follow?
